Say it like you’re from Boston… butta. That’s where it comes from. Plus, the internet beat us to everything else.

Tallow has been used like butter for generations, but it’s way more than that. From skincare to soap, haircare, and even home goods, it’s one of those ingredients that just does a lot without needing much help.

Basic Budda started pretty simply. We just wanted to make clean, no-nonsense products for ourselves and our families. No synthetic stuff, no artificial fragrances, no extra fillers. Just real ingredients we felt good about using.

Then something funny happened. It actually worked really well.

We saw how tallow matched the skin’s natural oils, how it held up across different uses, and how simple it was to keep things effective without overcomplicating it. We kept making more, shared it with others, and somewhere along the way… Basic Budda became a real thing.

Still simple. Just a little less “just for us” now.
